SIX FILED PAPERS ON SECOND DAY OF NOMINATION IN JALANDHAR

DC ASKS CANDIDATES TO STRICTLY FOLLOW ECI GUIDELINES AND COVID APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WHILE FILING THEIR NOMINATIONS

JALANDHAR, JANUARY 27 2022

District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that as many as six candidates have filed their nominations today on the second day of nominations in Jalandhar district. He stated that three candidates each from Shahkot and Jalandhar North assembly constituencies have filed their papers before the returning officers concerned.

Divulging the details, the DC said that from Shahkot assembly segment Bachiter Singh, a candidate of Shiromani Akali Dal has filed his papers while Hardev Singh, his covering candidate Manjinder Kaur have filed papers from Indian National Congress.

Likewise, in Jalandhar North constituency BJP Candidate Krishan Dev Bhandari and his covering candidate Nina Bhandari have filed papers besides another candidate namely Baljinder Sodhi from Nationalist Justice Party has also filed his nomination.

Mr. Thori further mentioned that the notification for the elections was issued on January 25 and last date for filing nomination is February 1 adding that no nomination would be taken on January 30 on account of public holiday. He also said that the scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on February 2, and the last date for withdrawal is February 4. He categorically asked all the candidates to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the ECI with respect to violation of model code of conduct while filing their nominations as any kind of violation would be dealt with heavy hands. He also appealed to the candidates to follow Covid Appropriate Behavior during the entire election process.
