Archery is being promoted continuously in Haryana
Panchkula, June 11 2022 :- Sonal Bundele grabs the attention every time she steps into the archery field as she is the only female competition manager at the Khelo India Youth Games here, which is a commendable achievement.
In big competitions like Khelo India Youth Games, her day starts very early and never ends. She has to make sure that everything is smooth and comfortable for athletes.
In an interaction she informed that she has to supervise the technical staff back and forth to ensure that everything is perfect on ground zero.
Sonal is happy with the grounds of Panjab University in Chandigarh and with the facilities provided by the Haryana Government. She explains that “a total of 64 archers will take part in two separate events, the recurve bow, which is held at the Olympic Games and the World Championships in the compound or bearbow,” She stated that 20 youth have already participated in international competitions. Two of them are also international record holders in the under-18 age group.
Sonal appreciates the platform provided by events like Khelo India in association with SAI and says that “they are helping many children chase their dreams”.
She further said that getting sponsorship is key to success in this expensive sport. Contrary to commonly believed, this sport is not adopted for hobby or entertainment. Sonali says that “most of the archers are from remote areas with tribal backgrounds.” But now it is spreading in the city areas also and urban children are also participating in this game, being promoted continuously in Haryana as well.
Hitting the target is not easy. But if Sonal Bundele can do it, why can’t others, she added.
