MAHAL SEEKS FULSOME SUPPORT FROM SOCIAL, RELIGIOUS, NGOs & PANCHAYATS AMID ONGOING CRISIS IN LARGER PUBLIC INTEREST
HOSHIARPUR, SEPTEMBER 6:
Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal on Sunday warned of stern action against those indulged in rumour mongering about the COVID-19 pandemic and creating panic amongst people.
The SSP said that police was keeping close tab on such frivolous and unfounded messages on social media platforms so that the unscrupulous elements could be brought to book. He said that no one should indulge in such anti-social activities in this diffivult and all of us should work together in fight against the outbreak of contagion. Mahal said that the police had already intensified surveillance on different platforms to keep a close vigil on such messages creating fear psychosis amongst the masses. He asserted that those posting such messages would not be spared at any cost.
Making an appeal to the people not to fall prey to such rumours and fake news , Navjot Singh Mahal said that the State Government and the Health Department had fully geared up to contain the further spread of COVID by mobilising requisite resources and manpower extensively. He also impressed upon the people if anyone had symptoms of COVID, he or she should immediately seek medical advice and undergo COVID test as the state-of-the-art healthcare facilities had already been put in place at Government hospitals across the state.
The SSP also sought fulsome support from the social, religious, NGOs besides Panchayats and other representatives to bring such nefarious activities to the notice of police in larger public interest especially in these trying circumstances.
