State Lok Adalat reunites 5 couples at SAS Nagar

— 100 cases settled in State Lok Adalat held at SAS Nagar

SAS Nagar, October 21:

Five couples residing separately were reunited in the State Lok Adalat held on Saturday in Sessions Division, SAS Nagar. Cases of these five couples were pending in the Court of Barjinder Pal Singh, Principal Judge, Family Court, SAS Nagar.

With the efforts of the Presiding Officer and Members of the Bench, the couples who had been litigating were counseled and convinced to lead a happy life after resolving their differences.

The State Lok Adalat was organized in Sessions Division, SAS Nagar under the aegis of Mr Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority exclusively for three categories i.e Family disputes, Motor Accident Claims and Land Acquisition cases.

Baljinder Singh Maan, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar revealed that in this Lok Adalat, 243 cases had been taken up, out of which 100 cases were disposed of by virtue of compromise and awards worth Rs.11,00,01,137/-  were passed by the different Lok Adalat benches.

In this Lok Adalat, 3 benches were constituted at District Headquarter which were presided over by Harsimranjit Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Barjinder Pal Singh, Principal Judge, Family  Court and Devnoor Singh, Civil Judge (Junior Division).
Besides this, one bench at Sub-Division, Kharar of Karun Garg, Civil Judge (Junior Division) and one bench at Sub-Division, Dera Bassi of Ms Manjot Kaur, Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) were constituted.

Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar had called various meetings of judicial officers, advocates, representatives of Insurance Companies and other stakeholders for the successful organization of this Lok Adalat.
