Strict action would be initiated against the sports federations, associations or any other sports authority for organizing sports event without making adequate arrangements: Sandeep Singh
Chandigarh, March 19:- Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Sandeep Singh said that strict action would be initiated against the sports federations, associations or any other sports authority for organizing sports event without making adequate arrangements. Despite the warning, if such sports organizations or organizers do not abstain from organizing the games without making proper arrangements for the sportspersons, then a ban can be imposed on them. Besides this, action can be taken against the involved officials.
While taking a strict note over media reports related to food and lodging arrangement for sportspersons during a hockey competition being organized in Jind recently, the Sports Minister said that such negligence would not be tolerated in future. He said that to promote sports, the state government is committed to provide every facility to the sportspersons, while some sports organizations are degrading the image of Haryana by organizing games without making adequate facilities.
Sandeep Singh, who is himself a hockey Olympian has expressed his displeasure over the negligence in the arrangements during the games organized by ‘Hockey Haryana’, a sports organization in Jind. He said that sportspersons cannot perform well, unless and until they get proper facility of food and lodging. He said that he himself had gone through such experience and can feel the pain of the sportspersons.
He said that the State Government could have supported to organize this competition, if the organizers of the competition had earlier requested the State Government to provide adequate facilities for organizing this sports event. The State Government has been making concerted efforts to encourage sportspersons in the State, he added.
