MoU INKED BETWEEN OPEN UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE TO OFFER SIX CERTIFICATE COURSES

In line with the directions of Vice Chancellor Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala Dr. Karamjit Singh, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up Students Learner Centre was inked on Saturday here at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh (S.C.V.) Government College, between Registrar of the university Dr. Dharam Singh and Principal of the college Dr. Jatinder Kaur. The upcoming Centre would be administered by and affiliated to the university, which would provide guidance to the students regarding courses offered by the university.
Disclosing this, Dr. Dharam Singh said that initially six certificate courses would be started at theStudents Learning Centre. The eligibility for taking admission has been fixed as 12th class , said the Registrar adding the courses can be pursued alongwith both the regular studies and job. The centre would provide services such as professional counselling, hands on experience and library to the students.
Divulging further, Principal of the college Dr. Jatinder Kaur said that these courses are in sync with the changing times. Further, this centre would prove to be extremely beneficial for the students of the region who could not avail regular admissions. The centre would act as an interface between the teachers and students rendering any assistance such as field experience apart from modern communication tools for the benefit of the students, added Dr. Jatinder Kaur.
On the occasion, Local Coordinator of the Centre Sukhwinder Singh gave detailed information about the courses.
Among those present included senior faculty of the college Prof. Seema Saini, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Surinder Pal, Prof. Sunita Mittal and Prof. Ghanshyam Singh.
