Schools of Eminence Students Were Anxious About their Career Oriented Visit

To broaden the students’ horizons and provide them with a hands-on understanding of various professional fields, career counseling and help students to build their pathway to achieve their goals, an exposure visit was organized of the Class Eleventh Students of School of Eminence from 3B 1 at  District Administrative Complex, Mohali, today.

The students while interacting with the Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain were keen to know her journey to the civil services besides looking after family matters as well as carrying official responsibilities.

Deputy Commissioner while pacifying the anxiousness of the students said that everyone should have a goal in his/her life to achieve something. She started her journey to join civil services during her study of eighth class. After that, she persuaded her LLB getting inspired from her father and after completion did not join a law firm that had offered her an annual package of Rs 20 Lakh. She aimed at her aspiration of joining UPSC and cracked it finally.

She exhorted them to fix a goal and follow it passionately till it’s achieved. She said them to prepare a time table and study accordingly. The best timing for study is early morning.

Responding their query to manage family as well as official responsibility of district administrative head, she said that day by day we used to focus on both professionally by managing both roles be it of mother, wife, daughter and Deputy Commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner while apprising them of the duties of District Administrative Officers said that they deal with regulatory powers as well as welfare services such as to maintain law and order by taking various steps besides ensure health and educational services and roads infrastructure etc.

Earlier, while interacting with ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary and Assistant Commissioner (Under Trainee) Davy Goyal, the students put many a questions on both of them and showed keen interest to follow their paths. ADC (Rural Development) threw light on administrative set up viz Sub Divisional Magistrate at Sub Division Level, Additional Deputy Commissioner at Distric Level under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner.

The students visits SEWA Kendra where they were informed about the process of Citizen Oriented Services Delivery as well as home delivery of 43 services under ‘Bhagwant Mann Srakar Tuhade Dwar’ initiative by dialing 1076.

They also visited SDM Office, ADC Rural Development and General Offices too and knew about the working of the administrative offices.

Deputy District Education Officer, Angrej Singh who was leading the students in this new endeavor, said that as per the directions of Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains, the Department of School Education is spearheading a series of exposure visits for students from Schools of Eminence (SoE). As part of this initiative, students have visited DAC Mohali, Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali, Maharja Ranjit Institute for Preparation of Armed Forces Mohali, IISER Mohali (Indian Institute of Science, Technology and Research) etc, during the exposure visit.
