Many healthy food products, such as dairy products, vegetables, and fruit already contain sugars. The sugar in these foods gives them a sweeter taste. It is important for people to include these foods in the diet, as they provide various nutrients to the body that provide valuable health benefits.

However, manufacturers tend to add sugar to foods such as cereals and cake and many drinks. Those products having artificial sugar added to it cause various health problems.

Sugary drinks, candy, baked goods, and sweetened dairy are the main sources of added sugar. But even savoury foods, like breads, tomato sauce, and protein bars, can have sugar, making it all too easy to end up with a surplus of the sweet stuff. To complicate it further, added sugars can be hard to spot on nutrition levels.

When consumed in excess level, sugar affects the arteries of the blood as walls of arteries get too thick than the normal. Even a person can catch heart diseases like heart attacks and strokes by consuming more sugar in their daily life. According to the studies, a person dies of a heart attack when their blood sugar level goes up.

Adding it to foods and drinks significantly increases their calorie content without adding any nutritional benefit. So, intake of sugar without any calories in it will only harm the body parts.

Diets high in sugar are automatically high in calories. This can increase the risk of diabetes.

Sugary drinks are particularly problematic for example frooti drink, Maaza, Coke etc as they include the artificial sugar and taste which is not good for health.

Some harmful effects of Sugar on human body are:

  1. Body weight increases as you consume fat in the form of sugar.
  2. Pancreas get overused when the sugar is consumed in excess.
  3. Kidneys may get affected when the consumption is over of the sugar and the sugar blood cells goes up.
  4. Heart diseases get attracted by eating too much sugar.
  5. Too much sugary food can lead to acne-prone skin.
