Temples of Khajuraho are wonderful and grand: Governor Shri Patel

Governor visits temple in Khajuraho

During his visit to Khajuraho today, Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, started his Western Temple Group Darshan by offering prayers to Matangeshwar Mahadev. He wished for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. He viewed the architecture of the beautiful temple of Matangeshwar Mahadev premises and sought information about its architecture. The Governor offered prayers at the Panchayatan-style temple dedicated to Lord Surya, the Chitragupta temple, Vishwanath temple, Nandi Mandap and Barah Mandir.

After visiting the temple, the Governor wrote in the visitor register that- “The temples of Khajuraho are wonderful and grand. I was very happy to see the artifacts here. Many congratulations to the Archaeological and Tourism Department of India for the management and best maintenance here.” Governor Shri Patel, after worshiping and visiting Matangeshwar Mahadev, interacted with tourists from Delhi and Indore in the temple premises and also got group photos clicked.

After visiting the temple, the Governor sat in the Kandariya Mahadev premises and saw the creation of the wonderful temples of Khajuraho and the artefacts of crafts and rituals. He was greatly pleased to see the architecture of a thousand year old temple. Here he listened to the story of the establishment of Khajuraho in the Light and Sound-show.

It may be noted that Governor Shri Patel today reached Khajuraho, the world tourism city on a three-day tour. Tourism and Culture Minister Sushri Usha Thakur received him at Khajuraho airport and presented him with a bouquet. Administrative officers including Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture Shri Shivshekhar Shukla were present.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel will inaugurate the 48th Khajuraho Dance Festival on Sunday, February 20 at 7 pm. This event will be held in the premises of the Kandariya Mahadev and Devi Jagdambi of the West Group temple. District in-charge Minister Shri Omprakash Sakhlecha, Tourism and Culture Minister Usha Thakur and MP Shri V.D. Sharma will also be present.
