The 2nd  Sub National Immunization (SNID) round of Pulse Polio 2021-22, inaugurated by the Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal in district Karnal today aims to administer polio drops to 25.7 lakh children of which approximately  13.21  lakh ( 51%) children under 5 years of age have been administered polio drops today.

Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the Health Department said that in most of the districts booths have been inaugurated by eminent personalities including MLAs/ Deputy Commissioners/Municipal Councillors/Civil Surgeons and other senior officers.

He said that Transport Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma, MLA, Mrs. Seema Trikha and MLA Sh. Rajesh Nagar have inaugurated the SNID round in district Faridabad. MLA Palwal, Sh. Deepak Mangla, has inaugurated the SNID round in district Palwal.  Also, in district Gurgaon, activity has been inaugurated by 2 MLAs in different areas- Sh. Sudhir Singh, MLA in Gurgaon, Sh. Rakesh Daultabad  in Badshapur.

The spokesperson said that the immunization started today at 13 identified districts of the State viz: Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mewat, Palwal, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat and Yamunanagar  to maintain the polio-free status of the State. He elaborated that booth activity was undertaken on the first day of activity. In view of present scenario of Covid 19 pandemic all health officials and front line workers are working with full precaution like use of personal protective equipment, Mask, sanitizer, gloves etc. Teams are following the hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene & social distancing measures.

The left out children during the booth activity on 1st day will be administered polio vaccine drops on September 27 and September 28 through visit of house-to-house teams in high risk areas like slums, isolated hutments, brick kilns, floating/ migrating population & construction sites.

In order to smoothly carry out this campaign,  approximately 11555  booths were set up and  these were manned by approximately 50,000 health officials/volunteers/Anganwari Workers/ASHA etc. About 2100 officers/officials supervised the activity apart from Independent Monitors of NPSP-WHO. About 500 field supervisors in all districts and 5-6 district supervisors in each district supervised the activity apart from Independent Monitors of NPSP-WHO.
