The 75th day of Indian Independence was celebrated in an impressive ceremony held at the District Administrative Complex Barnala today. The Minister for Forests, Social Justice and Minority Mr Sadhu Singh Dharamsot hoisted the tricolor.
Addressing the people of Barnala Mr Dharamsot said that Punjabis have contributed the maximum in Indian struggle for independence. Now a united front was needed to fight against the infection and emerge victorious. Punjab has brought laurels under Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh by making its mark in infrastructural development, power, rural and urban development, education, health, people centric services and has put an end to VIP culture.
He added that farmers’ produce are being procured within 48 hours of its arrival and crores of debts of farmers have been waived off. The students of classes +2 have been given mobile phones, social security pensions have been revised from Rs 750 to Rs 1500 per month, Aashirwad scheme benefits have been raised to Rs 51000 to enable marriages of girls from poor families etc.
He appreciated the efforts of Barnala administration in raising the child sex ratio by effective implementation of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao that has risen number of girls from 895 in 2019-20 year to 964 in year 2020-21.
He appreciated efforts of Barnala police in waging its battle against drugs by confiscating 14.48 lacs habit forming drugs and injections, 7.849 kg heroin, Rs 46 lacs drug money etc. Also the efforts of Municipal Council Barnala were appreciated for getting works worth Rs 2 crore done. Also nine villages having scheduled caste population have been brought under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojna and have been given Rs 85 lacs grants.
Social Justice and Minority department Barnala has passed 1078 cases in year 2020-21 under Ashirwad scheme and issued around Rs 2.26 lacs for this. This amount has now been augmented from Rs 21000 to Rs 51000 per case. Saving the precious water resources, Rs 63 lacs have been spent of constructing 14 projects of Seechewal model and Rs 61 lacs have been spent on constructing 15 projects of Thapar Model. Besides this 36 parks are being constructed worth Rs 81 lacs of which seven have been completed.The chief guest Mr Dharamsot, Deputy Commissioner Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka, MLA Mr Pirmal Singh Dhaula, chairman improvement trust Mr Makhan Sharma, former MLA Bibi Harchand Kaur Ghanauri and Bibi Surinder Kaur Walia also paid floral tributes to the Father of Indian constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.
Chief Guest distributed tricycles, wheel chairs and sewing machines to the needy and honoured various people for their exemplary services.
District and Sessions Judge Mr Virinder Aggarwal, Additional Session Judge Mr Barjinder Pal Singh, ADC (G) Mr Amit Bamby, ADC (D) Mr Naval Ram, Assistant Commissioner Mr Devdarsh, president nagar council Mr Gurjit Singh Ramanvasia, vice president Mr Narinder Neeta, market committee Barnala chairman Mr Ashok Mittal, former MLA Mr Nirmal Singh Nimma and others were also present.
District admn sets up new benchmark, replaces conventional honouring trophies with saplings
On the occasion of Independence Day, the district administration has set up a new benchmark by replacing conventional trophies and shields with saplings. Giving message of increasing green cover, the chief guest Mr Sadhu Singh Dharamsot gave saplings along with commendation certificates to people.
