The Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Treeside India an initiative of Value AddedSkill Development Education in India organised “Value -Added and Skill Development Course on “Human Rights Advocacy in Practise : Unleashing Your Voice for Change” . The course was inaugurated by Professor. Anil Monga , NEP Coordinator at the Panjab University. He apprised the students how NEP is going to revolutionise the the educational system by providing the students with an ecosystem wherein they can hone their skill-set in various streams with a focus on learning by doing.
Professor Namita Gupta, Director Public Relations, the guest of honour at the inauguration of the Course applauded the efforts of the Centre for Human Rights and Duties for curating a course which focused on learning human rights skills with a focus on mastering human rights advocacy skills.
Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat , Chairperson , Centre for Human Rights and Duties informed the course would be run over a period of fifteen days wherein the students would learn basics of cause related advocacy, crowdfunding for Change and Mastering Audio-Visual Advocacy. He applauded the efforts of the Centre for Human Rights and Duties for curating a course which focused on learning human rights skills with a focus on mastering human rights advocacy skills.
The course is being facilitated by Mr. Hitesh Vig , Founder Treeside Initiative with a vast experience in creative consultancy, filmmaking for social impact, video production, training and development alongwith Ms. Nyaa Vinakyak as co-facilitator. Mr.Vig shared during the course the students will master advocacy tools including Campaigning strategies, visual storytelling, audio-visual production, and community mobilization ; Craft compelling narratives: Develop impactful messages that resonate with your audience and drive action ; Mobilize support and resources; learn fundraising techniques, build communities, and influence policy changes; Become a confident advocate for social justice ; Gain practical skills, build their networks, and make a real difference in the world.
The main driving force of the course has been the organising team comprising Dr. Kanika Sharma (Guest Faculty), Mr. Gurdeep Singh (SRF), Ms. Kavita (Research Scholar and students of M.A 4th Semester studying the subject Human Rights advocacy skills including Mr. Yashpreet Singh (Department Representative), Ms. Riya Swami, Ms. Amita Bhatti, Ms. Jashanpreet Kaur, Ms.Dhristi and Ms. Manpreet Kaur.
