Several delegations called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) at Raj Niwas, Kargil on the third day of his visit to Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Chowdhary Iftikhar Ahmad and Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho were present at the occasion.
A delegation led by LAHDC Councillor, GM Pore Syed Ali called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra and raised various issues including the construction of an irrigation canal in his constituency apart from upgradation of the Girls’ High School. Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the Chief Engineer, PHE I&FC, Ladakh to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of the irrigation canal. In respect of the upgradation of the High School and other demands, he said that the needful will be done as per norms. The Councillor also thanked the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for providing a doctor to the hospital at GM Pore. He highlighted several other issues and Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor passed necessary instructions.
Advocate Ghulam Murtaza also called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and highlighted the need for establishing a Consumer Court in Kargil to ensure legal accessibility for residents. He also requested for enhancement of remuneration of Assistant Prosecuting Officers. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the Advisor to look into the matter regarding the Consumer Court.
Mohd Ali, a resident of Chanigund, Kargil seeking compensation regarding his land acquired by the Government for constructing a Health Centre also met Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor who directed the Deputy Commissioner to examine the case and take immediate necessary action in the matter.
A public delegation from Zanskar Sub-Division also called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and emphasized the urgent need of reclaiming State land from private control for development of a public park. Additionally, the members of the delegation requested for construction of an irrigation canal to address water requirements in the region. In respect of the encroachment, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor strictly directed the Deputy Commissioner to get the encroachment immediately. While replying to the demand for the irrigation canal, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the Chief Engineer, PHE I&FC to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) by 15th February,2024.
A delegation of candidates provisionally selected through LAHDC-KSSRB against Class IV posts also called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor regarding allocation of Departments as per merit. In this regard, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed the concerned to look into the matter and resolve the issue as per norms within a fixed time-frame.
On the other hand, a delegation of employees of J&K State Road Transport Corporation, who have now been absorbed in SIDCO-Ladakh, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and apprised him about issues pertaining to their remuneration which was reportedly still not enhanced. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor spoke to the Managing Director of SIDCO and passed necessary instructions.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor interacted with various other delegations and individuals from across the District including officials of various departments as well as persons seeking financial assistance. He gave a patient hearing to all their issues and said that their genuine demands will be looked into as per norms within specific time-lines.
