Chandigarh September 25 :-
Aiming to eradicate corruption in the state the the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested a Clerk Kirandeep Singh, posted at Municipal Committee, Sunam, district Sangrur while he was demanding a bribe of Rs 01 lakh.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the above mentioned Clerk has been arrested on the complaint of Pawan Kumar, resident of Sunam city.
He informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that he had applied in the Municipal Committee to get approval of map of residential building to be constructed on his plot but the said clerk was demanding a bribe of Rs one lakh in lieu of getting clearance of his file.
After verifying his information and the evidence procured, the VB has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station Patiala and arrested the accused clerk. Further investigation in this case is under progress.
