Vijai Vardhan directs officers to keep a close vigil on the entry of the vehicles which illegally enter in the state

Chandigarh, December 21 –While, tightening the noose around the drivers of other states who illegally enter Haryana and ply their overloaded mining vehicles in the State, Haryana Chief Secretary, Vijai Vardhan today  directed the officers concerned to keep a close vigil on the entry of such vehicles by setting up checkpoints on inter-state borders so as to ensure that entry of such vehicles is blocked. Besides this, Chief Secretary also gave directions for  setting up checkpoints at the entry and exit points of crusher zones.

Vijai Vardhan gave these directions while presiding over a meeting regarding drawing a strategy for checking plying of overloading mining vehicles across Haryana with the Deputy Commissioners, officers of Transport, Mining and Police Departments through video conferencing here today.

While directing the officers concerned to take strict action against overloaded vehicles of other states entering Haryana, Chief Secretary said that such overloaded vehicles have not only become a major cause of accidents but are also causing revenue loss to the State.

Vijai Vardhan directed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to form a Committee along with the District Transport Officers (DTOs) and conduct special checking drives under which special monitoring of overloading vehicles can be done on the inter-state borders.

He said that apart from setting up checkpoints on the inter-state borders, the entry and exit points of the crusher zones should also be blocked, so that overloading of vehicles coming and going in the crusher zones can be checked on the spot and necessary  and timely action can be taken. This will also ensure proper monitoring of the entire process, said the Chief Secretary.

Vijai Vardhan also directed that challaning of overloading vehicles coming from other states should also be done. Besides this, proper coordination with the officers of neighbouring states should be established so as to ensure close monitoring of overloading vehicles. He said that special checking drives should be run in various districts of the state including  Narnaul, Nuh, Bhiwani, Rewari, Dadri, Panipat and Panchkula.

Principal Secretary, Mines and Geology Department, Anand Mohan Sharan informed the Chief Secretary that with the implementation of e-RAVANA system in the state,  problem of overloading vehicles has been curbed to a great extent, but the vehicles coming from other states  have certainly become a major cause of concern. However in order to curb the movement of these overloaded vehicles, as per the directions given by  Chief Minister, Manohar Lal a separate list of entry points of vehicles coming from outside the state and  crushing zones has been prepared and  checkpoints are being setup  with the help of police.

Director General of Police, Manoj Yadava, Director General, Mines and Geology Department, Amitabh Singh Dhillon, Transport Commissioner, S.S Phulia and other officers were  also present in the meeting. Principal Secretary, Transport Department Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
