Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India today launched an awareness van to disseminate the message of maximum voting and vaccination in the district. The van was flagged off by the District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan along with the Field Publicity Officer Rajesh Bali from the district administrative complex.

The van would run in urban and rural areas of the district for five days. It would spread awareness on voting under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program better known as SVEEP. This is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.
Deputy Commissioner Dayalan said it’s the endeavour of the state election commission that maximum people should use their right to vote to strengthen democracy. He especially called upon new and young voters to come forward to vote and be a part of this democratic process. At the same time he also appealed to the people of the district to get vaccinated to save the society from Covid pandemic.
Rajesh Bali while elaborating further said that this dual awareness van has been designed in such a way that besides making people aware on voting, use of VVPAT and applications like know your candidate, C-vigil and Voter Helpline, it would also motivate people for vaccination through pictorial banners, various songs and messages made on both the topical subjects.
On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen.) Amit Mahajan, Tehsildar Election Chand Prakash, DEO Secondary Chamkaur Singh, District Sweep Coordinator Dr. Satinder Singh, Election Kanungo Gagan, Technical Assistant FOB Kavish Dutt, Kamal Sharma, Charanjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Pipal Singh were present.
