Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu informed here today that the wheat procurement in the state will continue till May 31, 2020 as per orders of Government of India.
Mr. Ashu appealed to the farmers of the state whose wheat was yet not reach the Mandis for any reason that they could bring their wheat crop for sale in the mandi before 6 pm on May 31, 2020.
He said that various rules were being implemented in the state in view of the instructions of the Health Department regarding the procurement of wheat to protect the farmers, labour and government employees from the risk of coronavirus. He said that the farmers have fully cooperated with the government in implementing the directives of the government to execute this huge task of procurement which is nearing completion.
He also informed that 96% of the total target of wheat procurement has been completed till date in the state and payment has also been made in this regard.
