71.28 PERCENT OF PROCURED WHEAT LIFTED SO FAR

-DC CONVENES MEETING, ASKS OFFICIALS TO ENSURE SMOOTH PROCUREMENT AND LIFTING 

Barnala, April 28

 The work on lifting procured wheat crop from the grain markets of district Barnala is going on full swing. Addressing a meeting of stake holders called in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner Banrala Mr Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that till April 27, 215820 MT of wheat has been lifted from mandis.

He added that of this 65433 MT (around 66 percent) has been lifted by Pungrain, 54330 MT (around 78 percent) has been lifted by Markfed, 51905 MT (around 73 percent) has been lifted Punsup, 31501 MT (around 72 percent) has been lifted by Punjab State Warehouse and 12651 MT (around 67 percent) has been lifted by Food Corporation of India. He added that so far 393828 MT of wheat has arrived of which 376817 MT has been procured.

Adding further he said that till April 27, Rs 576 cr have been paid to the farmers. Total 1467 farmers have been given benefit of direct transfer of payments into their bank accounts. These include 400 farmers of Pungrain, 622 farmers of Markfed, 165 farmers of Punsup and 280 farmers of Punjab State Warehouse.

Besides this the Pungrain has paid Rs 189 cr, Markfed has paid Rs 143 cr, Punsup has paid Rs 141 cr, Punjab State Warehouse has released Rs 78 cr and FCI has released Rs 23 cr.

He added that kisan help desks have been set up across the market committees to enable the farmers get access to online payments.

DFSC Atinder Kaur, DMO Jaspal Singh and district manager of various procurement agencies were also present.
