World Oral Health Day celebrated at Sankoo

Kargil, March 20, 2023:  District Health Society in collaboration with Block Medical Officer Sankoo today celebrated World Oral Health Day at Noon Public High School Sankoo to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene.
Dr Ashiq Hussain Goba, Dental Surgeon, CHC Sankoo and his team celebrated the day at Noon Public High School Sankoo under this year’s theme “Be Proud of Your Mouth”.
On this occasion, Dr Ashiq, Abdul Hadi and Sajjad Hussain Khushi (Dental Assistants), Principal Fatima Nissa, teaching staff and large numbers of students were also present.
Dr Ashiq said the World Oral Health Day is observed annually on March 20 to raise global awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene.
He said that a healthy mouth leads to a healthy body. He explained the impact of oral health on overall health and the role of a balanced diet in maintaining a good health and hygiene.
During the program, oral health care awareness and screening was conducted for children where they were taught about brushing techniques and other oral hygiene instructions.
He also summarised the harmful effects of tobacco on oral health and overall health. The students enthusiastically participated in the event by getting answers to their queries regarding oral health from the doctors. They were also screened.
World Oral Health Day was launched on March 20, 2013 by FDI World Dental Federation. The day also marks the launch of a year-long campaign to raise awareness of oral health and the prevention of oral diseases. Since 2013 these campaigns have featured a specific theme.
