World Skill Centre to come up at Gurugram, Chief Secretary

Chandigarh, April 22 While realizing the dream of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal led State Government to provide ‘job-oriented’ education rather than ‘certificate-oriented’, a ‘World Skill Centre’ to provide training in Vocational Education and Skill Development to the youth of the State would be set up at Gurugram which is known as the Gateway to the World. In this Centre, training would be imparted to 680 candidates in six main sectors.

Sharing more information, the Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that in the first phase, a target to train candidates in various sectors including Tourism and Hospitality, Retail, IT and ITES, Accounts, Banking and Finance, Logistic, and Beauty and Wellness has been set.

He further informed that the Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM) has signed an agreement with Magic Billion (Unit TGM Services Pvt. Ltd.), a registered India International Skill Centre (IISC) as a National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Partner for International Apprenticeship and for employment opportunities in Germany for the youth of the State.

As per the agreement, the Magic Billion would provide residential training to around 200 candidates in various sectors including nursing, hospitality, food retail, restaurant service and construction.

He informed that the training provider will ensure a minimum of 70 percent placement to successfully certified candidates with domestic and international brands within India as well as overseas (minimum 15 percent). Besides this, the provider would also ensure adequate infrastructure development, along with course curriculum development, training of Master Trainer, and various recurring and non-recurring activities of the training. In addition to the skill training, Training Provider will also provide training in foreign languages as per requirement.

He further informed that the Training Provider will provide capacity building training to 50 ITIs’ Instructors, trainers through International Master Trainers, free of cost.

The Chief Secretary said that under state funded SURYA scheme, till now 43,165 trainees have been mobilized and 10,517 are undergoing training. SURYA is an acronym for Skilling, Up-skilling, Re-skilling of youth and assessment funded by State. Under this scheme target allocation has been done for Short Term Training (STT), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Driver Training, and Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver Training (HMV).

Divulging the details about the status of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY 3.0)–Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM component) for FY 2021-22, the Chief Secretary shared that with the enrollment of 2058 people, Haryana has achieved 100 percent completion targets for Short Term Training (STT), while in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) target, the Haryana has achieved 92 percent of the State target.

The Chief Secretary further shared that an agreement has been signed between the State Urban Development Authority, Haryana (SUDAH) and HSDM for the implementation of the EST&P component under National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) from the financial year 2022-23.
