Youth should come forward to join NCC and NSS: Satyadeo Narain Arya

Chandigarh, February 1: Haryana Governor, Satyadeo Narain Arya said that in order to make the country strong and secure, every youth should come forward as a Cadet of National Cadet Corps (NCC) and as a volunteer under the National Service Scheme (NSS).

The Governor said this while speaking as the Chief Guest at a function held for honouring NCC Cadets and NSS volunteers of the State who participated in the Republic Day Parade-2021 at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today.

He congratulated all the NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers of the state for representing Haryana in the parade and Prime Minister’s rally held on Republic Day in Delhi this year. He said that they are proud that this time seven cadets of Haryana NCC and eight volunteers of NSS have participated in the Republic Day celebrations held in Delhi.

The main objective of NCC is to connect the youth with morals of unity and discipline, said the Governor. He shared that during his student life days, he himself was associated with the NCC and since that time, a feeling of social service had arisen in his mind and heart.

Arya said that NCC has played an important role in many areas. It is also called the country’s third defense line. Both NCC and the NSS Institutions perform public service during war-like situations and natural disasters.

The Governor hoped that in future as well the NCC Cadets and NSS volunteers will continue to contribute for upliftment of the society by removing social evils and will serve humanity as cultural and social ambassadors of Haryana. The State Government will also make every effort to popularize and encourage the activities of NCC and NSS.

Arya honoured all the NCC Cadets and volunteers of the NSS participating in the Republic Day Parade and Prime Minister’s Rally. A cash amount of Rs 21,000 and a citation and a memento was presented as a mark of respect. Apart from this, the Governor also announced an additional prize of Rs. 5100 each for all the winning contestants.

On this occasion, Education Minister, Kanwarpal said that Haryana’s NCC and volunteers of NSS participated in the year-2021 Republic Day Parade. He said that during his student life days that he had also joined the NCC and NSS and today he is proud that as Education Minister, he is present in the ceremony to honour the youth of these two institutions who had participated in the Republic Parade.

Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department, Ankur Gupta said that today India has the largest youth population in the world. The youth will have to be encouraged to bring changes in the country’s economy. Today, social awareness is being seen among the youth.

Director General, Higher Education, Ajit Balaji Joshi said that this time Haryana has received one of the two awards of NSS. He informed that in a new initiative, the volunteers of NSS, Haryana, have started a scheme to connect with every child, orphanages and elderly living in old age homes.

In his address, Additional Director General (ADG) NCC Haryana, Major General Beji Mathews said that the honour ceremony held at Raj Bhavan will be memorable for the budding cadets of National Cadet Corps.

Mathew informed that under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, online training programmes have been organized due to COVID-19. He said that the first National Cadet Corps Academy in Haryana is being set up at Gharaunda, Karnal, which will be ready soon.
