YS&S department observes 7Th International Yoga Day
Principal Secretary YSS urges participants to be ambassadors of the department in propagating “Be with Yoga, Be at Home” message
SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) celebrated 7th International Day of Yoga with great fervor and enthusiasm in Botanical Garden at the foot hills of Zabarwan that provided an ideal ambience to the event.
The serene atmosphere pervaded every being there and the quietude allowed the participants to synchronize their body, mind and soul. Although yoga is itself a COVID compliant activity yet a minimum participation of students, officers and officials was allowed on physical mode in the event.
Preceding to the International Day of Yoga, the Department of Youth Services & Sports started organizing practice sessions a week before to make 7th International Day of Yoga a memorable event.
The Yoga Instructors initially briefed the participants about the essence of Yogic exercises and thereafter held a 45 minute practice session with demonstration of different Yoga asanas. The message “Be with Yoga, Be at Home” was disseminated among the masses through different social media platforms besides hoardings and banners.
Principal Secretary Youth Services & Sports, Alok Kumar, accompanied by Joint Director YS&S, Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad and District Officer, Srinagar, Balbir Singh also participated in the Yoga session.
The yoga asanas were demonstrated by the proficient Yoga Instructor of the department, Mohammad Tahir.
Principal Secretary urged upon the participants to be the ambassadors of the department in carrying forward the message “Be with Yoga, Be at Home” and make Yoga a daily routine for their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. He also emphasized upon them to further motivate and involve their family members in yoga to fulfill the dream of making India Fit.
Most of the programmes were conducted online in about 285 blocks and district headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir; cutting across all the age groups, thousands of citizens, students, officers and officials participated in the celebrations through both virtual and physical mode.
