Zanskar Winter Sports and Youth Festival 2021: Ice Skating competition held at Zanskar
KARGIL, JANUARY, 22 2020: As a part of 13 days grand event of Zanskar Winter Sports and Youth Festival 2021, Ice Skating competition was held at Gyapak Ice Hockey Rink, Zanskar here today.
Councilor Karsha Stanzin Jigmet was present on the occasion as chief guest while as Councilor Cha Stanzin Lapka, Nominated Councilor Stanzin Chosgail, SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjey, Chairman Block Development Council Karsha Lobzang Namgyal besides officers and officials of Sub Division Zanskar and a large number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Stanzin Jigmet extended gratitude to the Ministry of Youth Services and Sports, Government of India, UT Administration Ladakh and Member Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal for taking initiative in organizing first ever winter sports and youth festival in Zanskar. He urged the youths and people of Zanskar to take benefits of this festival to showcase and explore their hidden talents adding that this kind of festival will provide them platform and opportunity to excel in various activities outside Zanskar.
He further said that such festival will also explore ways for emerging Zanskar as one of the important winter tourist destination in Ladakh region and it will also boost the economy of the local people.
Meanwhile, various teams participated in the Ice Skating competition which included under 10, 14 and 16 competitions for both boys and girls for 100, 400 and 600 meters respectively.
Groups of artists from various parts of Zanskar presented traditional folk songs and dance on the occasion.
