In connection with the 68th All India Cooperative Week celebrations, a daylong function was organized by the Department of Cooperatives District Budgam in collaboration with the Cooperative Societies of District at Sheikh-Ul –Alam Hall Budgam.

The theme of the 68th All India Cooperative Week is “Prosperity Through Cooperation” (Sahakar Se Samriddhi), which was coined earlier by the Government at the time of the formation of a new Ministry of Cooperation at the Centre. In accordance with the thematic areas of Cooperative Week Celebrations, the theme of the day was “Cooperatives for Youth, Women and Weaker sections”.
The main objective of the celebrations is to highlight the achievement of the Cooperative Sector, create awareness about how to uplift the weaker sections of society, share success stories and  to chalk out the future strategy for strengthening the Cooperative movement.
The Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies District Budgam Aabida Nabi unfurled the Cooperative Flag to mark the celebrations.
On the said occasion Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Deputy Commissioner Budgam was the Chief Guest, the function among others was also attended by District Audit Officer Cooperative Societies Budgam, Departmental Officers/officials, Institutional employees, Co-operators and eminent citizens.
The Deputy Registrar highlighted the role of Cooperative in the socio-economic up-liftment and emphasized on the need for formation of new Cooperatives in different fields by involving more and more unemployed youth, the Dy. Registrar highlighted the achievements of Cooperative Sector Budgam through PowerPoint Presentation. A cultural programme was performed by the students of Gousia Cooperative Educational Institute Panzan Chadoora. A women member of Kandi Women Cooperative Consumer Store Chill brass delivered a speech on women empowerment through cooperatives. Different speakers threw light on the theme.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza in his speech explained that he is fully satisfied  with the Cooperative Sector Budgam, but in tourism Cooperative Sector Budgam needs to set up infrastructure at tourist destination places and to chalk out the strategy for youth to form Tourism Cooperatives.
The function was concluded with vote of thanks by Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies District Budgam to all distinguished guests who devoted their precious time to grace the occasion.
