The 15th Tribal Youth Exchange Program is being organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra in Chandigarh from 10 to 16 October.
200 youth from 9 tribal districts of Orissa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand are participating in the program.
The 15th Tribal Youth Exchange Program was inaugurated on Tuesday by Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs in Chandigarh from 10th to 16th October. In the inaugural session of this program organized at NITTTR located in Sector 26, Dr. Dharam Pal, Advisor to the Administrator UT, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri Rupesh Kumar, Director of NITTR Prof. BR Gurjar, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan State Director Paramjit Singh and District Youth Officer Sanjana Vatts graced the inauguration ceremony .
Addressing the participants participating in the program, the Advisor to the Chandigarh Administrator, said that this Youth Exchange Programs play a very effective role in our lives. Referring to the problems of tribal areas, he said that undoubtedly those areas are backward, but they have their own distinct identity in India. Tribal communities are recognized across the country for their distinct culture. He said that governments are continuously making efforts to remove the backwardness of these areas. He asked participants to learn as much as possible in these 7 days for make this program an lifetime experience for them.
NITTTR Director Prof. BR Gurjar said that even in the absence of resources, if we have the will to do something then there are no obstacles in achieving our goals. He said that there is a lot for these youth to learn in Chandigarh which they should learn from here and try to implement it in their lives. If one is determined to achieve any goal in life, then lack of resources never comes in the way.
Giving information about the program, District Youth Officer Ms. Sanjana Vatts said that in this 15th Tribal Youth Exchange Program, 200 participants in which 100 boys and 100 girls are participating from 9 districts of the country affected by Naxalism and Terrorism. Participants from district -Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh, district- Chhatra, Gumla, Latehar, and West Singhbhum of Jharkhand, district Gadchiroli of Maharashtra, and districts-Kandamal, Kalahandi, Malkangiri of Orissa have reached Chandigarh for participating in the Program. She informed that in this program which will last for 7 days, awareness sessions will be organized on various topics for the tribal youth, In which topics like problems of tribal areas and their solutions, mainstream development of Tribal Youth, jal jangal and zameen, awareness on government schemes and opportunities for tribal youth in various fields, declamation contest on topic: patriotism and nation building, cultural performance and cultural competitions, sessions on women empowerment will be included. Apart from this, these youth will also be taken on tour to various educational, industrial and tourist places of Chandigarh for exposure to heritage, educational, technological and Industrial advancement.
