This Year I-Day to be dedicated to COVID vaccination drive: Girish Dayalan

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan today said the district administration would commemorate 75th Independence Day as per the guidelines issued by the Government besides dedicating the I-Day function to COVID Vaccination Drive, in which the district has fetched a marvelous accomplishment.
During the review of arrangements at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh Government College Phase-6 for the event, Deputy Commissioner said that the preparations for this event are going on in full swing and efforts were being made to make sure that the day would be celebrated with patriotic and nationalistic fervor with strict obeying of all preventive measures in view of coronavirus.
Mr. Dayalan said Independence Day celebrations was the most important event for all of us as on this day our country attained freedom from the yoke of British imperialism on this day. He told that the country would ever remain indebted to medical professionals, cops, sanitation employees and others who remained on frontline and risked their lives in the battle against the pandemic by performing their duties zealously and fearlessly.
He said that these Corona warriors are soldiers without uniform and their hard work is playing a pivotal role in combating the contagion. He due to prevailing situation arising out of Covid-19 pandemic, the children and elders are not being invited and no cultural activities would be held in the function.
Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Ms. Komal Mittal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Mr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr. Tarsem Chand Sharma and SDM Mr. Harbans Singh.
