During winters, food options increase as well as our appetite to eat boosts.
As in the winters, days become shorter and our body gets less time to digest the meal. On the second point, in winters people become lazy and run away from the physical activity
People prefer to remain inside their quilts, sleep and have a cup of coffee at their bed, and avoid stepping outside, and walking less.
Here are some ingredients which are to be added during the winters which give strength and boost the immune system.
Carrots- Carrots contain abundant Vitamin B6 and are easily available during winters. One medium carrot stick gives Vitamin B6 as compared to a glass of milk. Yet, carrots are a great source of fibre and Vitamin A as well. You can eat carrots in the salad, make a dish and even a sweet dish of it.
Milk- Milk is a good source of vitamin B6 as the body requires. Milk is the one item that is beneficial for all age groups. Have a glass of milk, eat oatmeal, or can add milk to the daily bowl of cereals and enjoy.
Bananas- Want to increase weight? Then eat one banana daily or have a banana shake for breakfast as you will gain weight slowly and even it gives you the energy. Besides vitamin B6, bananas also provide various antioxidants and fibre.
Green vegetables- Green leafy vegetables are loaded with iron, folate, and potassium. During the winter season, try to relish most of the nutrients by adding them to your daily meal. In Punjab, Saag is the most cooked dish during the winters.
Chicken Liver- Chicken liver contains B6, also has plentiful folate and iron. This food item also gives many health benefits.
Eggs- Eggs give you numerous health benefits as well as keep your body warm. There are many ways you can eat eggs but in winters mostly people prefer to eat boiled eggs with a cup of milk or to eat omelette bread for a very healthy breakfast.
Dry fruits – Eat a handful of almonds, cashew nuts or dates which keeps you warm in the cold season. Also, it is good for brain development especially for growing children
Ginger tea – Anyone having a cold or cough should take ginger tea twice a day which will soothe their throat infection.
