Congress will continue its political activities through Punjab government and Shiromani Akali Dal from Shiromani Committee
Level playing field should be there for all political parties
Legal recognition to election manifesto is need of the hour
Chandigarh, September 10 2021
Following the invitation extended by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha Committee to all the political parties in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) representatives on Friday held discussions with the Morcha Committee. AAP MLA and Kisan Wing state president Kultar Singh Sandhwan, MLA Aman Arora, MLA Baljinder Kaur and Intellectual Wing president Jagtar Singh Sanghera participated in the meeting as the party’s representatives. In the meeting, discussion was held on the farming of Punjab, the black laws imposed on the farmers by the Modi government along with the next course of action of the farmers’ movement on the borders of Delhi.
The AAP leaders assured the farmers that the cadre of the Aam Aadmi Party has always stood by the farmers and will stand by them in the future as well. They said that since the Aam Aadmi Party was playing the role of the main opposition in the state and the people of Punjab expected change from them; it was imperative to reach out to the people through political programs.
They said the Congress party has a government in Punjab, so it would continue its political activities by conducting government programs in the name of the government. Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal has hold over the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and can carry out its political activities through the Shiromani Committee and the Bharatiya Janata Party; in case of not joining all these formulas, is free to campaign. In such a scenario, it would not be logical to keep the Aam Aadmi Party aside, they added.
On the issue of vote rigging by political parties in the manifesto, the Aam Aadmi Party said that the party has been demanding from the outset that the manifesto should be taken as a legal document and recognition of the party which did not fulfill its promises in the election manifesto, should be revoked.
The AAP leaders said the Aam Aadmi Party has always stood by the farmers and has never done anything to undermine the movement and would continue to abide by every order of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. They said the volunteers of the AAP have been standing with the farmers since the beginning of the movement and even during the local bodies’ elections, the Aam Aadmi Party had contested the elections with less resources; urging its volunteers not to come back. They said the people of Punjab were giving overwhelming response to the Aam Aadmi Party and were joining the party in large numbers. In such a situation, it would not be easy for the Aam Aadmi Party to go against the sentiments of the people.
The AAP leaders further said that since the Aam Aadmi Party was at the forefront of direct confrontation with Narendra Modi, the AAP wanted to take the field against Narendra Modi with more force. In Delhi too, despite Modi’s best efforts, Arvind Kejriwal has slammed Modi three times and is determined to defeat Modi in future too and repeal these black laws. They said that every decision of Samyukt Kisan Morcha would be borne by the Aam Aadmi Party and the volunteers of the party would continue to contribute for the betterment of the Morcha.
