Elets Education Innovation Summit organised under digital learning

Chandigarh, May 27- Haryana took another initiative towards taking forward the Digital India platform of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi by organizing the National Level Digital Learning Elets Education Innovation Summit in Panchkula today and discussed the aspects of importance of technology.

Haryana Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, after inaugurating the summit, said that along with the Education Department, other stakeholders in this Summit also deserve congratulations for their cooperation. He said that after Covid, every state is working differently on its methods of teaching and study and we will get different information from each other. The Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal himself is IT savvy and has taken unique initiatives in many cases which have been discussed across the country.

The Education Minister said that recently on May 5, the Chief Minister started the distribution of tablets to the students and teachers of government schools from Class X to XII and till now more than 3 lakh tablets have been distributed.

Today children from big and well-known private schools are also taking admission in government schools of Haryana. Sanskriti Model School is a good effort, it will further improve the quality of education. He said that the Handbook of Digital Learning released in today’s workshop is a useful document, in which information about the education changes taking place across the world have been given. Haryana has taken the initiative to implement the New Education Policy 2020 first in the country and today’s summit is also a part of it. It is hoped that after the day-long discussion, education experts will give good suggestions which will be included in the implementation of the Education Policy.

The Education Minister also visited the e-expo on Digital Learning Solution, Digital Classroom Solution, Digital Board Solution, Digital Language Lab Solution, Security and Surveillance Solution, School Net, Learning for Light.

Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Dr. Mahavir Singh, informed about the use of IT in teaching work by Haryana. He explained how the challenges faced by the education department during Covid were not faced by any other department as the students were away from the schools and in the meantime teachers were given the option of taking online classes.

He said that with the efforts of the Chief Minister, a programme named Super-100 was started for providing coaching for competitive examinations to the medical and non-medical students of government schools. He said that it was started in the year 2018. In 2020, from the first batch of students 23 children qualified IIT, 64 qualified NEET and got admission in reputed institutes. He said that in the year 2021, 28 children were admitted in IIT and 72 in NEET out of which 5 children got admission in AIIMS which is a big achievement for the children of any government school.

Taking a step forward, the Chief Minister has announced to provide 2 GB data per day free of cost to the children so that the children of government schools can take education in the age of 21st century according to the new National Education Policy 2020.

Director General, Secondary Education, Dr. J Ganesan, said that it is a matter of pride for Haryana that it has taken an innovative initiative on education. Earlier also, on the initiative of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, the Education Department implemented the online teacher transfer policy, which was a revolutionary step in the IT era in the education department.

He said that through the Chief Minister’s Distance Education Programme, a big change has been made in the method of teaching and study. The “AVSAR” app has been launched by the department. Students’ assessment and e-report cards can also be obtained through this. Information Technology has become an essential tool in today’s era. A strange situation had arisen during Covid. The students had to be away from school and during that time this “AVSAR” app was created which proved to be very effective.

Representatives of education departments of Tamil Nadu, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala, Punjab were present during the workshop.
