An expert lists several common behaviors that might damage your kidneys:
• Eating a diet deficient in vitamins: Some vitamins are good for your kidneys, and a shortage can harm them. People with renal illness have been shown to lack vitamin D. When used with other medications, vitamin B6 has also been shown to support healthy kidney function. Spending 10 to 15 minutes every day in the sun will provide you with vitamin D. Salmon, chickpeas, potatoes, and other starchy vegetables, as well as non-citrus fruits, are sources of vitamin B6.
• Excessive use of painkillers: Although your everyday headache may drive you to grab for the tablets, doing so excessively might be harmful to your kidneys. While they do help you feel better, they can also lead to kidney cancer.

• Excessive consumption of processed foods: Although these deliciously crunchy snacks may quell your midnight cravings, they might be bad for your kidneys. The excessive levels of salt and phosphorus in processed foods can harm the kidneys.
• Not Exercising Enough: People who exercise at least three times each week have a much lower risk of developing kidney stones. For individuals with poor kidney function, walking is advised because it can assist with cardiovascular issues, which are a serious health concern for those with CKD and those receiving dialysis. Be sure to work out for 30 minutes a day, five days a week.
• Drinking too much alcohol: Your kidneys may eventually fail if you can’t live without alcohol or wine. Studies have shown that consuming more than four drinks each day doubles the chance of developing chronic kidney disease.
• Consuming excessive amounts of salt: Consuming foods and diets high in salt (sodium) can increase blood pressure, which can harm your kidneys. Try flavoring your food with herbs and spices rather than adding too much salt. You will eventually be able to stop adding salt to your diet thanks to this practice.
