CHANDIGARH
During menstruation, a woman goes through a phase when they feel a bloated stomach, back and lower abdomen pain, headaches, loss of appetite, and mood swings. Apart from these some girls also suffer breast pain before or during the period cycle.
Now a question arises is this pain normal or a warning sign?
The expert shared her views on this, “A female ovaries yearns for a baby during the period leading up to menstrual, and to get ready for pregnancies and the child’s development, it stimulates the milk-producing cells in the breasts is also a reason for developing breast pain”.
She further explains, “The female reproductive system and secondary sex traits are developed and regulated by the sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which also affect the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryogenesis in humans and other animals. This causes the breast to enlarge. The breasts gain weight, begin to hurt, and become sore as a result of this abrupt expansion before periods, she said, adding that this is entirely normal as far as the pain persists each time and is not extreme.
She continued, advising that one should contact a doctor if they “suddenly see some change in the kind of discomfort you are feeling, are getting some discharge, or are noticing some weird lump that has not been there before.” She also suggested using medicines to lessen the pain.
Your breasts feel sore because of the enlarged milk glands and breast ducts brought on by rising progesterone levels and higher oestrogen levels, respectively.
Symptoms of breast tenderness:
This is supposed to be “a cyclical breast ache,” which often begins five to ten days before monthly bleeding. Your breasts may feel heavy, achy, painful, and occasionally there may even be a shooting pain, the doctor advised.
She suggested some tricks to decrease tenderness:
Drink plenty of fluids: This will not only help ease abdominal bloating but will also reduce cramps and make you feel better.
Eat a well-balanced diet: One should eat a diet that is full of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Reduce the intake of salt, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine. Avoid smoking. You can also take some supplements that contain folic acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6, calcium, and magnesium will help reduce cramps and improve mood.
Good sleep: Seven to nine hours of sleep is beneficial during this time to improve your overall health and your mental health.
Exercise: A person must perform the exercise for at least 30 minutes daily. This will assist in reducing not just breast tenderness symptoms but also other premenstrual symptoms. Additionally, it will ease any tension brought on by this.
