Weeklong 24th National Youth Festival activities conclude in Kargil 

KARGIL, JANUARY 09, 2021: Different activities organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kargil as a part of the week long 24th National Youth Festival which is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda concluded at Language Center New Academy Complex here today.

Executive Councilor (EC) for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs, Er Phunsog Tashi was the chief guest on the occasion.

District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Special Officer for Cultural Activities Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak, President Ladakh Olympics Association Kargil, Ajaz Hussain Munshi, officers and officials of Youths Services and Sports and participants of the Youth Festival were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion EC Tashi lauded the efforts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports for organizing such activities in Kargil district and underlined the importance of Youth Festival. He said that through such platforms youth get opportunity to showcase their talent in different activities be it music, dance, sports etc and also get opportunity to interact with different sections of society thereby promoting the spirit of brotherhood.

The EC Tourism also said that LAHDC Kargil is committed for the empowerment of youths, preservation and promotion of culture, languages and development of education. He stressed on youths to participate in different activities apart from education because it gives them opportunity to perform at national and international level.

Earlier, participants showcased their talent which included folk dance by Tsewang Dolma and group, film contemporary dance by Fahmida and group, individual folk dance by Spalzez Angmo, individual dance by Tsewang Dolma, Skalzang Choton, Phunsog Wangmo, harmonium by Feroz and bansuri by Stanzin Laktso.

Later, the EC along other guests presented certificates of participation among the participants and the guests.

Meanwhile, Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kargil Jigmeth Spaldon and Senior Artist Muhammad Abass and Senior Artist Tsewang Rigzin were the judges on the occasion.

The program concluded with vote of thanks by DYSSO Kargil, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma.
