KARGIL AUGUST 22, 2020: With the onset of Muharram-ul-Haram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, mourning congregations are presently underway in Kargil district with religious fervor while ensuring strict observance of COVID-19 SOPs put in place by the Administration.
In this connection congregations were held across the Kargil Town and all Sub Divisions of the district today amidst necessary preventive measures like usage of masks, hand sanitizers, maintenance of proper social distancing, usage of thermal scanners, sanitization of the Imam Baras and other places of congregations and other required measures.
While the main congregations in Kargil Town were held at Anjuman e Jamiat ul Ulema Isna Ashariya, Kargil (AJUIAK) and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) premises Kargil with limited number of mourners,
Muhrram Majalis in the town were also held under the close supervision of the Magistrates and Mohalla Committees at Imam Barah Balti Bazar, Poyen and Chanchik with the number of mourners in each case not exceeding 25.
Muharram congregations in and around Kargil town were also held last evening at Titichumik, Goma Kargil, Hussain Abad Pishoo, Lankore and Longbithang, Pashkum, Bemathang and Baroo Colony where the number of attendees in each case was at the most 30.
In Drass Sub Division congregations were held at Drass Headquarter where 30 mourners participated , Imam Barah Muradbagh (22), Goshan (45), Bhimbat (15), Throngus (30), Kharboo (13), Shimsha (10) and Yulboo (18 mourners).
In case of Shakar Chiktan Sub Division, amidst strict observance of SOPs, mourning congregations were held at Manglishon Chiktan, Samrah, Hagnis, Shakar, Kukshow, Karamba, Rgyalkhang Wakha, Chatithang Mulbekh and Pesbuchay which were attended by mourners numbering between 25 to 30 in each case.
As regards to Sankoo Sub Division, Muharram Majalis were held at Nam Suru, Gongma Saliskote, Kanoor, Tai Suru, Lankarchey, Sarchey, Nangma Kousar, Thangboo and Gyaling. The number of mourners in each case was 21 maximum.
All SOPs issued by the Administration were followed in letter and spirit in all the Sub Divisions under the supervision of the Magistrates and the Mohallah Committees.
Moreover, effective sanitization of lavatories, hand and foot washing stations/areas, railings, door knobs, proper disposal of face covers/masks, gloves and leftovers by the devotees was ensured after the congregations were over while Tabarruk was served in packets with proper use of gloves in all the Majalis.
