AAP to burn effigy of Balbir Sidhu on Aug 13 over Panchayat land scam

Corrupt minister grabbed land worth crores in name of Gaushala: Govinder Mittal/Malvinder Singh Kang
Mohali, August 7 2021
“If Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had wanted to serve the cows, he would have renovated the existing government cowshed, but his wish was to grab land worth crores of rupees.” Alleging this, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office bearers of Mohali district announced that they would stage a protest against Balbir Singh Sidhu and burn his effigy on August 13.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, AAP’s Mohali district president Govinder Mittal and party’s state spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that Mohali MLA and Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had usurped panchayat land worth crores of rupees at Balongi village in the name of Gaushala. They said that in the trust being set up by the Health Minister to get the land from the Panchayat; he had made his own family members, relatives and PA of his brother Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, as the members.
Kang said by paying only Rs 25,000 per acre, the drama was staged for income generation of the Balongi Panchayat. Govinder Mittal alleged if the service of Gaushala was to be done, Balbir Sidhu would have done more developmental work in the existing government Gaushala in Mohali; but he had built his own property by constructing a separate Gaushala.
The leaders said a protest would be staged and effigy of Congress Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, who as a land mafia, occupied Panchayat and Shamlat properties; would be burnt on August 13 in Mohali. On the occasion, district secretary Prabhjot Kaur, Punjab Chamber of Commerce president Vineet Verma, joint secretary Dr Sunny Ahluwalia and Gurmej Singh Kahlon were present.
