Chandigarh, June 15- Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Vijai Vardhan has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the State to expedite the work on various short-term schemes for flood control and to personally visit the sites and give updates regarding the ground report. He directed to complete the work of cleaning of urban and rural drains and other flood control measures by June 25, 2021.
The Chief Secretary was reviewing the ongoing preparations for flood control in the state through video conferencing here today. In the meeting, senior scientist of the Indian Meteorological Department, Sh. Satyendra Singh made a meteorological presentation. Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal and Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. SN Roy joined the meeting through video conferencing.
The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners to complete all the flood control measures in their respective districts on priority basis and to personally visit the site to review the progress of the flood rescue work and ensure that all the works are completed at the earliest. He said that the work for cleaning the drains and channels must be completed by June 25, 2021.
He said that there should be no shortage of pumps in any area to drain the rain water. Every district officer should ensure to take temporary electricity connection on time so that there should be no inconvenience during emergency situations. He said that all pump sets should be in working condition and places should be marked for installation of permanent and temporary pumps.
The Chief Secretary said that flood control rooms should be set up in all the districts. Employees should be deployed for 24 hours for monitoring the same. Apart from this, the work of ring dam repair etc. in rural areas should be completed on time. He said that Gram Sachiv and Patwari should be deployed at the village level to monitor the critical and most sensitive areas.
Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Sh. PK Das, Additional Chief Secretary Irrigation and Water Resources, Sh. Devender Singh and other senior officers of the State Government were present in the meeting.
