(Says Gopal was acting as money collection agent of Kejriwal)
Chandigarh, 8 February 2024
Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia today demanded a CBI probe into the resignation of Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Chairman Satya Gopal one year after his appointment, saying “there are reports that he was forced to resign after his personal assistant was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate”.
Asserting that former Delhi bureaucrat Satya Gopal was a blue eyed boy of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Mr Bikram Majithia said “the officer was appointed for a period of five years and his resignation after little over one year months in the job indicates there is more than meets the eye”. He said chief minister Bhagwant Mann, who held the Urban Development portfolio, should also clarify why the former bureaucrat was shunted out in this manner. “The chief minister should also tell what is the qualification of Mr Satya Gopal that he was appointed to the detriment of others from Punjab”.
Stating that Satya Gopal was acting like a money collection agent of AAP, Mr Majithia said colonizers and builders had been complaining to this effect in Punjab. “Now there are reports that Gopal’s personal assistant has been caught in the ED’s net and this is why the AAP government has acted in haste to relieve him of his post”.
Urging that the probe into the entire affair should cover both the money collected illegally from colonizers in Punjab as well as its final destination, Mr Majithia said “those who are looting Punjab should be exposed and punished”. He also demanded action against Gopal and all those who were assisting him in collecting money illegally to fill the coffers of AAP. EOM
