CEC Feroz Khan inaugurates playground at Rgyalmothang Poyen, FCS & CA ration store at Shilikchay

Lays foundation stone of 42 metre span steel girder bridge at Omachikthang, indoor stadium at Rgyalmothang

KARGIL, AUGUST 07, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated a playground at Rgyalmothang Poyen and FCS&CA ration store at Shilikchay here today. The projects have been completed at the cost of Rs 105 lacs and Rs 75.93 lacs under languishing and District Plan respectively.

The CEC also laid the foundation stone for construction of 42 metre span steel girder bridge at Omachikthang Shilikchay at cost of Rs 550 lacs under the Special Development Package (SDP), and construction of indoor stadium at Rgyalmothang Poyen at a cost of Rs 70.00 lacs under District Plan.

Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbas Razvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Councillor Poyen Constituency Haji Muhammad Amin, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kacho Mehmood Ali, AD FCS&CA Kargil Akbar Ali, community members of Shilikchay and Poyen areas besides other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

At Shilikchay, the CEC while congratulating people for fulfilment of their 2 pending demands said that while the establishment of ration store will ensure the storage and availability of ration at their door steps, the construction of steel girder bridge will pave way for availability of link roads to the interiors of the village. He also hailed the efforts of the local Councillor Haji Muhammad Amin for his dedicated efforts towards the development of the constituency, and said that several developmental works in the area are going on in full swing which includes among other works the construction of link road from Bye Pass Bridge to Foot Bridge and school reconstruction works.

Responding to the demands and issues of the locals, CEC Khan said that in order to provide better road connectivity in the area, a DPR of Rs 15 to 16 crores is ready for the widening of the motorable road from Shilikchay to Handurman Broq which will be included in SDP. He further said that adequate measures will be taken for installation of mobile towers once the NOC issue is sorted out, and the up gradation of middle school is also in the pipeline for which the matter has already been taken up with the concerned authorities, adding he urged people to identify suitable land for construction of library in the area.

CEC Khan informed the locals that considerable progress has been achieved under different sectors in various villages of the Poyen constituency over the last 2-3 years, and 25 major developmental activities are presently under progress from Poyen to Handurman which is a record in itself, the results of which will be visible in a couple of years. He further said that inclusion of the apricot of Kargil under One District One Product (ODOP) scheme will help in realizing the true potential of the district, give impetus to economic growth and generate employment and rural entrepreneurship, and in this regard the UT Administration is taking concrete measures.

Addressing people at Poyen, CEC Feroz Khan said that coming up of the scenic playground among the hills at Rgyalmothang will not only benefit the local youth of the area, but the playground will also prove fruitful to the youngsters from other parts of the district owning to its proximity to Kargil Town. He assured the locals that considering their demand, further steps will be taken for the development of the playground including its expansion, proper fencing, construction of spectators’ stands, pavilion, change rooms for players, water and other requisite facilities which will pave way for conduct of district and state level sports tournaments here.

Responding to the demands projected by the local population especially with regard to water scarcity, the CEC assured that all short term and long term measures will be taken to ease their problems by taking up the issues with the concerned departments. He said that to address the water issues, surface connections, lift water measures, repairs will be taken while new schemes will also be approved.

As regards to the up-gradation of Poyen High School to Higher Secondary School, CEC Feroz Khan said that the matter has already been taken up with the concerned authorities, and the LAHDC, Kargil is strongly pursuing it. He said that the up-gradation of the high school will not only benefit the students of Poyen area, but will also reduce burden on Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil where the roll of students has presently reached to more than 1200.

Deputy Commissioner Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve who also spoke on the occasion said that providing clean drinking water and other necessary facilities to people is the motto of the administration and all out measures will be taken to address their issues.
