Reacting to the new announcements made by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi at a late night press conference, Harpal Singh Cheema, Senior Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Leader of the Opposition said, “CM Channi who can’t give a guarantee for himself, is no position to guarantee jobs for youth in 2022.

When they have done nothing for 5 years, now Channi and Congressmen should stop worrying about youth’s employment, because in 2022 Assembly elections Aadmi Party will assume this responsibility as soon as it comes to power. ” He further said that Channi was now talking about the Employment Guarantee Scheme 2022, but the people of Punjab wanted to know what happened to the door-to-door employment of 2017.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Wednesday, Harpal Cheema said, “Today, after 5 years, the Congress is talking about jobs. employment guarantee scheme 2022 sounds a lot like ghar-ghar naukari 2.0 and with what roadmap and policy Channi is promising jobs in private sector? And if they have a way to make it possible then why haven’t they offered these jobs in the last 5 years?” He said that if Channi’s intentions were clear then he would not have disgraced the youth of Punjab in the name of job fairs. We all know that these fairs were held only to tarnish the image of the people and to waste government money, no one got employment according to their ability. According to him, the Congress is adept at handing out advertisements by misusing government funds. Channi has been advertising at the expense of Punjab’s exchequer for the announcements that weren’t even officially implemented. Regularisation of 36,000 jobs is prime example of Congress’s disregard for people’s tax money.”
The AAP leader strongly condemned Channi’s announcement to provide free IELTS to the youth of Punjab and send them abroad for jobs. He said, “When we (AAP) make the manifesto, the first thing we think of is how to create maximum employment in Punjab so that our children are not forced to move away from their homes and parents to study abroad. But here Mr. Channi is scheming to get rid of our youth so that they won’t have to improve our education system and provide employment.”
Commenting on the decision of Chief Minister Channi to provide Rs 2,000 allowance for internet to the students pursuing higher education, the AAP leader quipped, “I hope it doesn’t meet the same fate as Captain’s free mobile phones. Because if so then the government needs no funds for this, because the Congress also knows that no Congress leader, including the Captain, has fulfilled any of the promises made during the last elections.” He believes that Charanjit Channi is talking about free coaching in imitation of the guarantee given under Kejriwal’s ‘Jai Bhim’ scheme.
Harpal Cheema termed it unfortunate that the families of the martyred farmers have not been given any jobs till now. “The Congress government do not have any intention to do anything, it is just procrastinating to pass the few days they’ve left. If the government does not have complete data of the farmers who were martyred in this agitation, then nothing could be more unfortunate. ” He said that the people who were fed up with these false promises and hollow declarations would get rid of these Congressmen and the lying machines Badals to form an honest government of Aam Aadmi Party that will work for overall development and betterment of Punjab.
