A medical oxygen plant is being set up at community health center (CHC) in Dhakoli near Zirakpur as part of preparations to thwart possible third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur today reviewed the work for a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plant and gave necessary instructions to the health authorities. Dr. Adarshpal Kaur said that in view of the concerns expressed by the top health experts about the third wave, preparations are in full swing in the government health institutions across the district. She said that the machinery required for setting up of oxygen plant has been donated by a firm, which will be installed by the health department and the plant would start functioning within one month or so.
The Civil Surgeon asserted that with setting up of this plant there would be no shortage of medical oxygen for the patients admitted in the hospital. She said that the oxygen thus generated can be supplied straight to the site of use either through a dedicated pipeline or compressed to fill cylinders.
She further said that Covid care center Level 2 is also being set up in this hospital so that the critically ill patients of the area could be treated here and they would not have to travel far. She said that at present there is no shortage of medical oxygen in the government health facilities but they want to ensure that there would be no shortage of medical oxygen for the patients admitted in the government health facilities in the district if any unprecedented situation emerges in future.
Dr. Adarshpal also visited various wards of the hospital and gave necessary instructions. She said that although the number of positive cases of Covid epidemic has come down significantly, the second wave of pandemic is not over yet. She said that working under the able guidance of
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh, the District Health Department is fully committed to tackle the deadly disease and cooperation of the people is also very much required.
Civil Surgeon once again appealed to the people to get vaccinated against the Covid-19. She reiterated
that there is no shortage of vaccine in the district and all those above 18 years of age should not hesitate from getting vaccinated without paying any heed to rumors if any regarding the alleged ill-effects of the vaccine. Nodal officer for the plant Dr. Harleen Kaur and other officers were also present.
