Senior party leader and Leader of the Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Congress government and Chief Minister Channi, after misleading and taking the votes of SC community, had ruthlessly looted the state’s treasury and resources. Now that the illegal minting of billions of rupees have been exposed and piles of notes are being recovered from Channi’s family, He is aiming for the pity of the people by presenting himself as poor and dalit, while the poor and dalits of the state have not even seen so much money together. That is why Congress and Chief Minister Channi should not mock the poor by using the name of a community. He said that the people of Punjab will hold Congress leaders accountable for their heinous deeds.

In a statement issued on Friday, Harpal Singh Cheema alleged, “Congress party leaders have targeted the poor and SC community. This section has always been used for its vote bank, but has never been given constitutional and human rights. Congress leaders have insulted Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and other leaders who fought for the rights of this community. They only use this community and the names of people like Baba Saheb for their political gain. But whenever Congress and Congress leaders are accused of their nefarious activities, they suddenly remember SC community.”

Cheema said that Congress party had appointed Charanjit Singh Channi as the Chief Minister of Punjab for a few days to get the votes of SC community. They did nothing for the welfare of this section. Instead, Congress swindled millions of rupees that belonged to the students of SC community. He said that the Congress government had not provided bicycles to the school children in last five years, had not provided uniforms and books to the students on time, discontinued the construction and subsidy of toilets and houses and stopped giving pulses under Atta-Dal scheme. He added that even the educated youth of SC community was not given jobs according to their qualifications.

The AAP leader alleged that the Congress chief ministers and ministers had looted Punjab’s resources through sand, transport, liquor and cable mafia and pushed the youth towards drugs. Congress has been bullying the poor and SC people. Cheema said that if the looting of public exchequer had stopped, every section would have got facilities, which would have benefited the SCs too. Poor families would have gotten out of poverty and young people would get government jobs.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that instead of doing anything for the betterment of SC community, Chief Minister Channi has only promoted nepotism in his government which is evidenced by the fact that today crores of rupees and gold have been seized from the houses of Channi’s relatives. Cheema said that Chief Minister Channi’s and other SC Congress leaders are big stains on SC category who are looting people’s money through the mafia rule. It is unfortunate that the Congress party and Channi have resorted to SCs to hide their black money. Cheema asked Congress to stop using the name of the community, and said, “Now people are aware of their rights and every section of Punjab, including SC community will vote for the Aam Aadmi Party to have a corruption free government in Punjab.”
