CM Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid homage to freedom fighter and senior Indian politician Pt. Govind Vallabh Pant on his birth anniversary. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan garlanded the portrait of Pt. Pant in the auditorium of the Chief Minister’s residence.
CM Shri Chouhan said in that freedom fighter, former Home Minister of India who also served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Bharat Ratna revered Late Govind Vallabh Pant’s work for the progress of the nation and society, will continue to inspire us to serve the country and for the upliftment of the poor and the deprived.
Pt. Pant was the fourth Home Minister of India. His main contribution as Home Minister was to divide India into states according to language and to establish Hindi as the official language of India. He was born on September 10, 1887 in village Khunt located in Shyamali hilly area of Almora district; he passed away on March 7, 1961 while battling a heart attack.
