Congress tried every possible way to snatch our rights but could not stop us: Baldev Tomar

This dream would not have been possible without Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur.
Shimla: Baldev Tomar, former MLA of Silai, while congratulating everyone on the issuance of notification granting ST status to Hati community, said that the more than six decade long fight has reached a decisive stage today and we got our right. He said that this fight would have been impossible without all the support of the former Chief Minister of the state and the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Congress made every effort to keep us away from our rights. Even after the law was passed by the President, it was kept pending for five months. The complete clarification for which this bill was stalled was present in the draft made during the time of Jairam government. Due to this delay of the government, the future of thousands of youth was played with. By declaring Hati community as tribal, 2.5 lakh people of this area will be benefited.
Baldev Tomar said that this fight was not so easy. The right which Jaunsar Babar got 56 years ago due to political influence, we have got it today because of BJP. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President GP Nadda, former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, he said that this fight would not have been possible without everyone’s support.
Work started on war footing under Jairam government and reached its destination
Baldev Tomar said that BJP had started the initiative to give tribal status to Giripar area. Seeing the difficult situation of Giripar, it was first included in the manifesto of 2009 and now it has been implemented. The most important work towards giving tribal status to Giripar area was done by Jairam government in the year 2017. As per the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jairam Thakur, the then Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, formed a nodal agency. Playing an important role, all the research papers were collected and every aspect of the region was examined at the social, political and economic level and in the year 2021, this report was immediately sent to the Central Government by the Cabinet of Himachal Pradesh. Taking immediate cognizance of this, Home Minister Amit Shah directed the Registrar General of India to take immediate action and registered Hati tribe as a tribe on 13 April 2022. After this, it was approved by the Central Government on 16 December 2022, after being passed by the Lok Sabha and also by the Rajya Sabha on 26 July 2023, and approved by the President on 04 August.
Rights should have been given 56 years ago
Baldev Tomar said that Giripar area of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh is a geographically extremely inaccessible area. People of Harti community mainly live in this area. The people of this geographically inaccessible area had been demanding for 57 years that Giripar areas should be declared as tribal area because this tribe fulfills all the standards which are mandatory for declaring it as tribal area. But no efforts were made by the then governments. Whereas the Jaunsari community of the adjacent area Jaunsar Bawar had got tribal status. He said that Hati community should have got this status in 1968 itself when Jaunsari community of Jaunsar Bawar in Uttarakhand got it because there was social, cultural as well as geographical similarity between Hati community and Jaunsari communities. Then injustice was done to Giripar.
