Corona curfew on all days from 9 PM to 5 AM in Chandigarh

Industries in Chandigarh allowed operating night shifts with strict adherence of covid protocol.

Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over the War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home and Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation at Punjab Raj Bhawan. Sh. Omvir Singh Bishnoi, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT & Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director, PGIMER, Director Principal, GMCH & Director Health Services, GMSH-16 attended through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1. Dr. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER stated that they have 261 covid cases in Nehru Extension Block, out of which 93 belong to Chandigarh, 94 to Punjab, 40 to Haryana, 16 to Himachal Pradesh, 08 to Uttar Pradesh & Delhi and 10 from other states. He mentioned that they have tested 3,408 covid samples, out of which 866 were found positive. Thus, the positivity rate was 25.4%.

Dr. Jasbinder Kaur, Director Principal, GMCH-32 stated that they have tested 2,176 covid samples, out of which 355 were found positive. Thus, the positivity rate was 16.3%. She also mentioned that the vaccine wastage was only 0.8% in their hospital with due planning and proper precautions.

Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health Services stated that they have tested 2,984 covid samples, out of which 634 were found positive. Thus, the positivity rate was 21.2%. She also mentioned that the recovery rate was 87.9%. The fatality rate was 0.5% and the doubling rate was 47%. She mentioned that 1,61,146 doses of corona vaccines have been administered through 62 centres. 4 mobile teams for vaccines are also functioning.

2. Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 2,493 active cases, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 7,171 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh stated that they have 4,273 active cases.

3. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh reviewed the overall corona situation and expressed serious concern about the increasing number of corona cases. He directed Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner to intensify testing and contact tracing of home isolation and timely medical treatment.

4. Hon’ble Administrator reviewed the status of availability of oxygen in all medical institutions. He expressed satisfaction that due to the commissioning of the oxygen plant, there is no shortage of oxygen in the city. He directed the Health Department to monitor the availability of life-saving drugs in the city and to ensure that there is no black-marketing of such medicines.

5. Hon’ble Administrator directed Inspector General of Prisons to organize a special camp for testing and vaccines of all eligible inmates in Burial Jail.

6. After detailed discussions in the War Room, the following decisions were taken:-

(a) There will be a corona curfew on all days from 09:00 PM to 05:00 AM. No gathering or non-essential travel will be allowed in the city during this period.

(b) Sukhna Lake will remain closed on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

(c) Estate Office, Sub-Registrar Office & RLA Office, where several cases of corona infection have been detected will remain closed for a week (till 30th April, 2021)

(d) Keeping in view the risk of spread of infection in hostels, all educational institutions were directed to ensure that only those students should be allowed to stay, where such need is essential and unavoidable. The Heads of Institutions must ensure that the inmates are properly tested and verified.

(e) The Museums, Libraries, Spa etc. will continue to remain closed, as already ordered.

(f) The Industries will be allowed to operate night shift provided necessary covid protocol is followed within their campus. The management will be responsible for violation of covid protocol if any.

7. The police authorities were specifically directed to focus on crowded areas like markets, malls, railway stations, ISBT etc., where covid protocol needs to be strictly followed.

The Hon’ble Administrator directed to intensify patrolling in the city and to challan all defaulters.

8. The Hon’ble Administrator appealed to the Public Representatives, Municipal Councilors, Market Associations, and Resident Welfare Associations to persuade people to wear masks and to go for the vaccine. He announced that any organizer can request for special camp in their area by submitting a list of at least 100 beneficiaries to Principal Secretary Health.
