DC INAUGURATES LIBRARY AT NCLP SCHOOL

ANNOUNCES BOOK BANK IN THESE SCHOOLS BY ROPING IN NGOs and INDUSTRIAL HOUSES
MOVE AIMED AT INCULCATING READING HABIT AMONGST STUDENTS
Ludhiana, August 20 2021 To Inculcate habit of reading books among the students of National Child Labour Project (NCLP) School, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday dedicated a library in the school run by Dr Ambedkar Nagar Welfare Society at Model Town Extension.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi, the Deputy Commissioner said that this library would ensure the overall development of the students through vast knowledge attained from books.
He said that wholehearted efforts would be made for ensuring access of quality education to the students of weaker and underprivileged sections of society. He exhorted the students to keep reading and gaining wisdom through the books. He added that the Ludhiana has 32 NCLP schools and 1500 children study in these institutions and announced that a book bank would be developed in NCLP Schools by roping in NGOs and industrial houses.
The Deputy Commissioner said that these children must get books of their choice so that they could read it thoroughly and enhance their knowledge. He told that that strenuous efforts would be made for ensuring books to the needy students.
He said that NCLP scheme seeks to adopt a progressive approach with a focus on the rehabilitation of children working in hazardous occupations and processes in the first instance.
Sharma said that children from hazardous occupations are withdrawn from these occupations and then put into special schools to enable and mainstream them into the formal schooling system.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration is committed to the welfare of the students and said that it would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the best education and skill training for them.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Dr Surjeet Singh, Dr Maneet Diwan and others.
Meanwhile, a similar library was also opened in NCLP School, Mullanpur Dakha by Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal and Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi.
