DC INAUGURATES SUVIDHA CAMPS, HANDS OVER ON-THE-SPOT PENSION SANCTION LETTERS TO 98 BENEFICIARIES

In a bid to assist people with the benefit of as many as 19 pro-people government schemes under one roof, district administration Jalandhar on Thursday held suvidha camps at district and sub division level, where an influx of visitors filed applications for various welfare schemes of the state government.

Inaugurating the camp at district administrative complex, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that these camps would prove to be a game changer in terms of benefit people with welfare schemes at grass route level. He added that on Thursday four camps comprising DAC Jalandhar, Phillaur, Nakodar and Shahkot were held simultaneously adding that similar camps would be held again on Friday. Thori handed over on-the-spot pension sanction letters to 98 beneficiaries including 80, 14, four and one beneficiaries of old age pension, widow, orphans and specially-abled categories.

Describing this initiative as a path-breaking step of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the DC said that this move would go a long way in benefiting the people with welfare schemes. Visitors were offered the assistance in as many as 19 welfare schemes including bus pass, LPG connection, waiving off electricity bills, electricity complaints, CLU, social security schemes, Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, water supply connections, revenue department, loans, allotment of five marla plots,  Ashirwad and Scholarship schemes, and others.

Meanwhile, the DC interacted with the beneficiaries participating in the camps while exhorting them to come forward in huge-numbers to take maximum advantage of pro-people schemes of the state government. He stated that the government has brought all key departments under one roof so as to provide benefits of schemes to people being run by these departments. He urged the people to visit these camps as more camps would be held across the district in coming days as well.

Pointing out further, District Social Security Officer Varinder Kumar said that during the suvidha camp as many as 154 forms for social security schemes of which 151 found eligible and sanction letters were handed over to 98 beneficiaries on-the-spot. He also mentioned that the department has been providing pension benefit to over 1.87 lakh beneficiaries comprising 1,23,024 old age pensioners, 42,652 widow pensioners, 10,743 specially-abled persons, and 10,834 orphans/dependent childrens with a pension benefit of worth Rs. 28,08,49,500 per month. The DSSO further appealed to beneficiaries facing suspension of pension amount into their accounts to immediately submit their Aadhar cards with the department to be able to resume their pension.
