DC launches massive Swachata drive in Rajouri town

RAJOURI, JUNE, 01, 2021: To keep the city neat and clean, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today launched a massive Swachata drive in the town here from the PWD Dakbunglow.
Among the others, President MC Rajouri, Mohd Arief; Vice President MC Rajouri, Bharat Bushan Vaid; Chairman National Development Organization, Zulfikar Ahmed; EO MC Rajouri, Councillor, Rajinder Gupta; Tazeem Dar, Yogesh Sharma and Councillor Javed Ahmed were present on the occasion.
The one aspect of the cleanliness drive is the collection of the house to house garbage and the generation of awareness among the common masses about the benefits of cleanliness and sanitation on health and the environment. The manpower for the door to door garbage collection has been outsourced from the National Development Organization as there is a shortage of sanitation workers in Municipal Council Rajouri.
National Development Organization is a Non-Government Organization that carries out sanitation drives across different states and UTs of the country.
Currently, the sanitation drive would be carried out in the eight wards of the Rajouri town and all other wards of the town would be covered in a phased manner.
The Deputy Commissioner said that although people maintain cleanliness and hygiene at individual levels, the need of the hour is to join together to make the entire district clean.
“It is a massive cleanliness project to make Rajouri a clean city and the drive would be replicated in all the urban areas of the district later on” the DC added.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the land for the establishment of the solid waste management plant in the town stands identified and the inconvenience concerning the dumping of the solid waste would be mitigated with the establishment of the said project.
He appreciated the public for their active cooperation in making Rajouri a white district besides, he also urged upon the left out people to get their houses painted with white polish.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the District Administration has decided to declare Rajouri a single-use plastic-free district and urged upon the masses to shun the use of single-use plastic in their daily lives and go for eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic to make the district clean and green.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the Safai Karamcharis to educate the public about the benefits of cleanliness and sanitation on health and the environment.
The Deputy Commissioner urged upon the public to get themselves vaccinated for Covid at the earliest to remain safe from the viral infection besides, also appealed to the public to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Government for appropriate COVID-19 pandemic behaviour to break the highly infectious chain.
