DC, SSP HOLD VILLAGE DEFENCE COMMITTEE MEET TO REORIENT THEM ABOUT GOVT MEASURES TO TACKLE DRUG TRAFFUCKING

Along with SSP, the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal on Monday held a meeting with the members of the Village Defense Committee to reorient them about latest government steps to more effectively tackle drug trafficking attempts from across the border. The meeting was held at the border village of Jodha Bhaini near to the international border.

Lauding their role, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said that the people of the border villages provide a lot of support to the security forces, while urging them to inform the police or BSF if they get any information about any drone activity.

She said that anti nation elements from other side of the border try to infiltrate drugs and weapons into our country. “We will negate all their attempts and for this police and civil administration require your help ,” she added.On this occasion, SSP Virinder Singh Brar told the people that if they have any information regarding drug trafficking in the area, they should feel free to inform the police so that strict action can be taken against the culprits. He also said that the identity of the informer will be kept confidential.

It is worth mentioning that village Defense committees (VDS) have been formed in the border villages of Fazilka district in which prominent men of the village have been included. With whom the district administration and the police department maintain constant coordination and these VDS play an important role. On this occasion, the villagers said that they always work together with the district administration, police and BSF and will continue to cooperate in the same way. It is worth mentioning here that even under Mission Abad, government facilities are provided to the people by the district administration from time to time by setting up public welfare camps in the border villages.
