It was further sub divided into 415 Acre 3 Kanal 14 Marla as Shamlat Deh and 33 Acres of land was recorded as Jumla Mushtarka Malkan. During the course of the updation of record done by DDPO Mr. Amarinder Pal Singh Chauhan working in tandem with the revenue department officials, it was found that additional to the above mentioned land, an area of 574 Acre 7 Kanal 14 Marla of Shamlat Deh land in 51 Gram Panchayats and an area of 51 Acre 3 Kanal 2 Marla of Jumla Mushtarka land in 24 Gram Panchayats in total area being 626 Acre 2 Kanal 16 Marla belonging to Gram Panchayats was not recorded in the departmental records.
Ms. Sonali Giri said that directions have been issued to initiate evictions proceedings against the illegal occupants of Shamlat Deh panchayat land under the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961 and those of Jumla Mushtarka Malkan panchayat land under Punjab Public Premises and Land (Eviction and Rent Recovery) Act, 1973 by filing cases in the Court of Collector, Panchayat Lands Rupnagar.
