Deputy Commissioner applauds efforts of 100 super teachers for empowering education system
Rupnagar, September 6 2021 District Administration of Rupnagar and Punjab Education Department in collaboration with Sanjhi Sikhiya organized an award ceremony celebrating the efforts of 100 teachers of the district Rupnagar who went an extra mile to ensure no learning loss for children. In the two-hour-long virtual award ceremony Deputy Commissioner, Smt. Sonali Giri, District Education Officer Jarnail Singh, Deputy DEO Charanjit Singh Sodhi and Retired Principal Sucha Singh Sidhu addressed the teachers.
The Deputy Commissioner while congratulating the award winner appreciated the efforts of hundred teachers of the district for their commitment for ensuring quality education during the Covid-19 pandemic. She also highlighted the best practices adopted by the teachers despite several challenges during Covid-19. She also motivated the teachers to keep up with their innovative practices of meaningfully engaging children and to keep working as a team to achieve more.
S. Sucha Singh Sidhu, Retd. Principal Govt Secondary School shared the need to facilitate socio-emotional learning for the students keeping the social, psychological, and emotional needs of a child in mind.
Renu Kaushal, a teacher from the district shared her experience in evoking a sense of responsibility in parents towards the government school. Parvinder Singh, another teacher, shared how he managed to convince parents of a child with learning difficulties to ensure he continued on the learning path.
During the function the speakers disclosed that eleven young leaders from Sanjhi Sikhiya’s flagship program, Punjab Youth Leaders Program, will be working in the district for the next two years. The young leaders will be working towards developing a shared vision for education blocks in rural and semi-urban regions of district Rupnagar. The focus of the program would be on improving learning outcomes in government primary schools by forming teachers’ collective, driving community ownership and strengthening local governance.
Sanjhi Sikhiya is a collective movement of young professionals that aims to transform the public education system of Punjab by enabling dialogues and forming communities.
