District Admin Kargil launches snow clearance measures to ensure uninterrupted public services
100 percent roads cleared in town under Municipal Area

Post fresh snowfall, District Administration Kargil today launched massive snow clearance measures in the district to ensure uninterrupted road connectivity. Deputy Commissioner Kargil had instructed all the concerned departments to gear up their men and machinery to ensure uninterrupted essential services.
Executive Officer, MC, Shafqat Ali Khan said MC Kargil launched snow clearance operation and it has so far cleared 100 percent roads in town under Municipal Area Kargil.
Similarly, snow clearance was started by NHIDCL on the Kargil-Zanskar Highway and work was completed at packages 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8, while on packages 4 & 7, the snow clearance process is in progress. The General Manager, of NHIDCL, Kargil said that the Kargil-Zanskar road is motorable.
Similarly, snow clearance operation was also launched by the Mechanical Department Kargil all over the district Kargil.While providing the details about the snow clearance measures, Executive Engineer, Mechanical, Kargil Mohd Hassan said snow was cleared from Drass Hospital Road and High School Muradbagh premises and High Secondary School, Drass bus parking. Snow clearance was also started at Higher Sec School Pashkum.
Regarding Zanskar Sub-division, he said snow clearance was completed at Headquarter Padum, market and peripheral. Headquarter to Hospital road was also completed, Padum to Higher secondary School road via Pibilting bridge and HSS School to Padum headquarter via Power House Link were also connected.
Mohd Hassan also said at headquarters of sub-divisions of the district Kargil the snow clearance has been completed. He however said the ongoing snowfall has delayed overall progress. However, machinery and personnel have been deployed to expedite the remaining clearance efforts, he added.
